Airport Dog Park

The Airport Dog Park is an off-leash dog park in Santa Monica, California. The dog park is an area of the Airport Park which has been designated for the use of exercising dogs off-leash. Both the park and the dog park are popular with residents, and although there is a parking lot, parking is often at a premium at weekends. As the dog park is so close to Santa Monica Airport, pet owners should be aware the noise from the airplanes can make pups nervous until they get used to it. 

This Santa Monica dog park comprises of two spacious sections. One side is reserved exclusively for use by smaller fur babies, and the other is for the big guys. The off-leash areas have an attractive appearance. They have lots of pine trees, hilly parts and are covered with a functional layer of bark chippings. There are also some rustic timber hurdles for the dogs to jump over. Bark or wood chippings can prove to be uncomfortable for pet owners who are wearing open-toed shoes. 

So adequate footwear is a must to be able to enjoy off-leash time with your pup in this Santa Monica dog park. Also, because of the underlying dirt surface, the Airport Dog Park does get dusty in hot weather, but the dogs do not seem to mind at all. If they get thirsty, there is a dog-friendly water fountain for your convenience. Dogs at the Airport Dog Park must have their Santa Monica license tag displayed on their collar. 

The dogs of owners who are non-residents in the city must have a Santa Monica issued non-resident tag on their collar. Before entering the off-leash areas, owners need to make a quick count of how many other dogs are inside. The Airport Dog Park has a limit of no more than forty-five dogs on either side at any one time. Let's hope the pups stand still long enough to be counted.
