The mountainous terrain at the Arroyo Verde Dog Park makes for an incredibly scenic place to walk with your canine. The trails wind and weave throughout this large park. There is a couple of open fields but due to the terrain games like fetch would not be recommended. Regardless if you come during on-leash or off-leash hours, the big draw for this park are the walking paths.
Even the most energetic people and canines can walk these trails nearly endlessly and find themselves quite worn out. Depending on where you go inside the park, the ground here transition from nice green grass and vegetation and dirt and desert terrains. There are public restrooms available and running water is available at the entrance to the park so you and your canine can stay hydrated.
However, you will want to bring your own container to transport the water with you and a bowl for Fido as you traverse the trails of the park. The high altitude of the Arroyo Verde Dog Park in comparison to the nearby town of Verde makes for a beautiful city-wide view from the highest points of this park.
Avid hikers and dogs that enjoy the more challenging terrain of these trails in comparison to paved walking paths will find this park to be head and shoulders above other nearby options. It lacks some of the amenities other dog parks have, and it requires well-trained canines as the paths are shared with bikers and joggers, but makes for an incredible option for those who can meet those conditions.
