The "Barking Lot?" - Atlantic Station Dog Park is a small off-leash dog park. It is important to note that this dog park is comingled. This means that there is no separate section in the dog park for small canines, meaning no matter what size your pooch is, he or she is welcome in the park.
If you have a large canine, make sure they are socialized and familiar with small canines before bringing them to this park. This is for the safety of the little canines as large dogs can sometimes mistake them for toys and in the blink of an eye, bite and shake a little pooch, causing irreparable damage.
Apart from the fact, that this park is comingled, it is also relatively small. Enough so that it is not ideal for large canines anyway, as they will not have a bunch of room to run and stretch their legs. For large canines, it works best as a restroom downtown.
The park itself is pretty limited as far as resources and amenities. Dog bags and trash cans are available for your use, but there are no public restrooms here, and the space is too small for any real agility equipment or other fun things for your canine to interact with.
They do have running water here though, which you can access through a water hose inside the fenced area. There is also bench seating and typically enough bench seating for everyone at the park. Trees overhang the dog park, leaving enough shade for most parts of the day.
There is felt like astroturf in this park, making cleaning up after your canine a breeze. They stay relatively clean when they go to this park as opposed to a park with dirt or sand. Overall the community seems to enjoy this park; it seems to be a comfortable haven for the neighborhood canines. Especially for small dogs, this park is certainly recommended.
