Description

The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest is located in southwestern Montana. The closest town to the forest is Butte town which is the county seat of Silver Bow County in Montana. For access to the forest, you can use several roads including MT 38, MT 43 MT 278, and US 10A. The forest encompasses a total area of 3,357,826 acres of land and is managed by the U.S. Forest Service. The national forest was established in 1905. 

Once you reach the forest, you will find lots of amenities available to you including dispersed camping, 50 campgrounds, 27 cabins, picnic sites, boat launch, trails (2750 miles), scenic drives, and ghost towns like Elkhorn and Coolidge. You will also find other facilities like Anaconda Pintlar Wilderness Area and segments of Nez Perce Historic Trail and Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. 

Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest is one of the few places that offers premier handicapped-accessible outdoor recreation facilities. One of these premier facilities includes Sheepshead Mountain Recreation Area. Furthermore, the forest is also favorite to many visitors for offering several recreational activities including downhill and cross-country skiing, camping, fishing, boating, hunting, horseback riding, hiking, and swimming. 

For visitors that love to enjoy the outdoors with their dogs, you should rest assured that you will have plenty of fun in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. That said, you have to follow the forest rules. Some basic rules regarding dogs include the following. You must ensure that you keep your dog leashed. The leash that you use must not be longer than six feet long. 

Additionally, you are expected to clean up after your dog, as always. One of the more essential forest rules is to make sure that you respect forest resources and other visitors to the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. As such, you must make sure that you know the areas of the forest where you are allowed to visit with your dog since authorities ban dogs from exploring some areas of the forest.
