Tourists flock to the relaxed, seaside Capitola Esplanade Park along Monterey Bay for its natural beauty and many other features. It may make you want to stay in this town for more than just a vacation! Dogs are not allowed on the beach, as is the way with most designated swimming areas in California. They are, however, allowed to enjoy the grassy areas of the park near the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean. From this park, you and Fido can also enjoy some views of surf crashing against the impressive Capitola Bluffs. This park may be tiny, but the activities are many! There is an outdoor stage in the park that often features free concerts, movies, art exhibitions and firework shows. Even just sitting on one of the benches and people watching while Fido rests his paws is entertainment in itself. The park is right near an eclectic mix of shops and food. A pawrific thing to do if your stomach is growling, is to grab some food from one of the nearby vendors or restaurants and have a picnic in the grass. Don’t forget the dog treats for your good boy or girl!
The only parking around Capitola Esplanade Park is pay street parking, which is known to be busy and expensive. Why not walk to the park if it’s in your neighborhood? Your pooch will enjoy getting in the extra miles! Leashed dogs are welcome as long as they follow proper petiquette, and you’re willing to stoop and scoop. You'll need to bring your own doggy waste bags. The park also features public restrooms.
Capitola Esplanade Park attracts many tourists, locals, and their dogs, so get ready to make some friends! Whether you visit this park on a peaceful morning, or a bustling afternoon, it’ll give you and your pup a good taste of what Capitola’s all about!
