Cooper Park Off Leash Dog Area

Bozeman, Montana is a bonafide dog-lover community, and they have made their voices heard when it comes to getting the best for their dogs. Cooper Park, a small park near the Montana State University, was one of the first local parks that residents pushed to become an off-leash play area. Since then, almost every park in the area has become off-leash to reflect what the community feels is best for its dogs.

The park itself is a small field of maintained grass, a picturesque dog park for dog owners to wander in and out of at some point in their day. Picnic benches both in and out of the shade provide rest areas while dogs run wild and free in the half-acre park. Cooper Park has a special place in the hearts of locals and residents, and at any given time you are sure to encounter at least one or two other dog owners taking their dog out for playtime. 

There are dog stations and water fountains for both humans and dogs, but no restrooms, so you will want to plan accordingly. Cooper Park is managed by the City of Bozeman, and it is a public park available for all to use freely. You will want to pack your own poop bags in, although there are garbage cans available so that you do not need to pack the poop out. 

The park maintains a garden which you can walk through, and a single path running diagonally through the park provides a central area for you to watch as your dog runs in with other dogs. The locals are all reported to be kind and helpful, and you might enjoy passing the time by striking up a conversation with someone while your dogs play together.
