Crocker Amazon Park Off Leash Dog Area

Crocker Amazon Playground is a sports complex with numerous full-sized sports arenas, a community garden, a children’s playground, and an off-leash dog play area. The park as a whole has undergone several major renovations in the last few decades, and it is a point of pride for the neighborhood community of Crocker-Amazon, which is situated at the southernmost border of the city of San Francisco.

Thanks to these renovations, the park is fully equipped with bathroom facilities, benches, and water fountains where you can rest, recharge, and replenish during play. The dog play area itself is located across from the community gardens. 

Dogs are offered 1.8 acres of grassy hills, dirt trails, shady trees, and a wide-open field to run around and play games in. The dog play area is unfenced, so you will have to be vigilant and ensure that your dog doesn’t get too far off track during play. Additionally, the dog play area offers a unique semicircular sandpit for dogs to play in and enjoy.

This area is a smaller and quieter dog park when compared to the other off-leash dog play areas at the adjacent McLaren Park. Many people enjoy and prefer the secluded area, and it is more accessible from the nearby neighborhoods than the larger dog play area at the heart of McLaren park. 

Poop bags are provided, but it is always a good idea to bring your own. The city of San Francisco makes the park public and available for all to visit or reserve. Regulations require that your dog be on-leash when not in off-leash areas and that you pick up after your dog.

The neighborhood of Crocker-Amazon is diverse in terms of both cultural and socioeconomic background. If you and your dog visit the park, you may find yourself appreciating an interesting conversation as your dog meets an interesting new friend.
