Elysian Park, Los Angeles, CA

Dog-friendly Elysian Park is the oldest and second largest public park in LA. It features natural spaces, bike and jogging paths, and canine visitors’ favorite—hiking trails. One of the park’s most popular hiking trails is the West Loop. Stretching 2.5 miles, it offers puptastic views of downtown Los Angeles and the Valley on a clear day. 

Like all of the trails in the park, the West Loop is a relatively easy trek. It has a bit of elevation gain and many portions are shaded by pine, eucalyptus, and oak trees, making it a grrreat choice for new and urban hikers. Along the way, you and your leashed four-legged pal will be treated to views of Mount Washington, the Golden State Freeway, and the LA River. You’ll also come across a small flower garden known as the Marian Harlow Memorial Grove, which is a nice place to take a break. Once you reach the peak, you’ll be rewarded with pawsome views of the downtown Los Angeles skyline.

Another popular trail is the loop that leads to Angels Point. Like the West Loop, this 2.8-mile route also offers some woofderful scenery for two- and four-legged hikers to enjoy. Paved and dirt paths will take you and your pooch past the Los Angeles Police Academy and soccer fields, as well as views of the Golden State Freeway, Dodger Stadium, and the San Gabriel Mountains. At Angels Point, you and Fido will be greeted by an art sculpture and furbulous views of downtown LA.
