Fairmont Park in Manhattan is a sprawling park bounded by one side by the Kansas River, and on others by homes and farmland. With lots of open spaces and places for families to play and gather, this park near the downtown area is the pawfect place to get back to nature. But the best news for your dog is that it also is home to a furtastic dog park!
The Fairmont Park Off Leash Area is a fully fenced in pup play haven. With a small dog section for those 14 lbs and under, and a large dog area, your favorite furry pal can find just the right place to play. The entry is double gated for extra security, but note that the fencing is square wire fence, so if you have a very small dog who's an escape artist, use caution. Inside the large dog area, there is agility equipment such as weaving pools, A-frames, and elevated tires so sporty pups can show off their circus tricks. Most of the terrain is dirt with some patches of grass, so if you are bringing your dog in wet weather, it may be good to pack a towel for a quick wipe off as it can get muddy.
With doggie drinking fountains, your pup can stay hydrated. Trash cans and clean-up bags on site make it easy to pick up after your dog, but its always good to bring a few extra bags just in case. Picnic tables offer a place for you to relax while your dog gets out all that energy. Your dog can run off leash inside the fenced in off leash areas, but you must have a leash on hand at all times. When your dog is ready to explore outside the off leash area, clip the leach back on and check out the path outside the large dog section for a hike that ends at the Kansas River. If your dog fancies the water, this is a great opportunity to get a dip in.Â
Fairmont Park is also used for various activities such as football, soccer, disc golf, and a newly constructed riverfront trail, which you can your dog can visit on leash.
With a furbulous space that's sure to please your pup, head to the Fairmont Park Off Leash Area today!Â
