Field of Friends is a public dog park located at the Benicia Park in Benicia, California. In addition to the dog park, the beautiful 50-acre community park is home to a plethora of activities for the whole family. There are four softball fields, two baseball fields, a Frisbee golf course, a hockey rink, a skate park, a giant slide, and public bathrooms.Â
There are several picnic areas and walking paths that run throughout the park, as well as a beautiful scenic trail that passes by the Herman Lake – ideal for dogs who love to sniff around and explore on a leash. Though there is a spacious parking lot, finding a spot on the weekend might be difficult as the park gets busy, so keep that in mind when you plan your visit.Â
The dog park is well-designed with separate areas for small dog breeds and large dogs. Both open spaces are grassy and provide a decent amount of space for dogs to stretch their legs and have fun without a leash. The large dog area is more popular and nearly always has some dogs playing and socializing. The small dog area is great for shy dogs or scheduled playdates.Â
Though there are numerous benches throughout the community park, there aren’t many seating options in the off-leash areas. Consider bringing a folding chair if you plan to spend more than an hour at the dog park. Please make sure to pack some water for your canine as there are no drinking fountains available and make sure to clean up after your pooch if you visit.Â
The Field of Friends Dog Park at Benicia Park is a great, well-maintained location for canine socialization and off-leash exercise. This community park is a perfect place for a day outdoors with the family. Just keep your belongings in sight as the park is known for being super windy!
