Flying J Dog Park

The Flying J Dog Park is an off-leash dog park at a truck stop just outside of Cisco in Texas. The dog park is only one of the amenities provided by the Pilot Flying J company at this travel center on the side of the highway. Here, passers-by can fuel up their vehicle before hitting the road again or park up overnight if they need to get a few hours sleep or need a break from driving down those long Texas highways. 

This Flying J travel center has all the facilities anyone on the road could ever dream of needing. For humans, there are bathrooms with showers installed which are mobility challenged accessible, driver's lounges, laundry and even a barbershop. There are also restaurants serving everything from pizza to the good old all-American buffet to a simple corn dog for less than two dollars. 

Several retail outlets tempt travelers to part with their cash and sell a multitude of products ranging from saddles for horses to some seriously expensive cowboy boots. It's even possible to buy a lasso rope and a Mexican sombrero. This place has it all covered. Outside, around the truck stop, visitors can delight in some stunning, life-sized statues of horses, an interesting historical fire truck, and a Texas pumpjack.

For the pups who need a break from the road, and considering how much ground acreage the state of Texas has, there's probably the smallest dog park in the whole of the United States. The dog park, which is located on the grass verge by the parking lot, is a twelve foot by ten-foot square fenced with chain-link. 

There are only one or two rules for pet parents wanting to exercise their dog here. The first is only one dog at a time. It's not big enough for two. Take poop bags because none are provided. However, the dogs are in luck as some thoughtful soul fitted the off-leash area with a fire hydrant.
