Fort Boggy State Park

With over 1,800 acres of room for outdoor activity, Fort Boggy State Park in East Texas is a great place to spend the day or a weekend. Visitors to the park may camp, hike, fish, mountain bike, boat, or stay in one of the new cabins. With rolling hills, meadows, and wetlands, the park offers a variety of landscapes and plentiful wildlife

The 15-acre lake is open to small boats without motors, such as canoes or kayaks. The park offers fishing gear available for rental, including rods, reels, and tackle boxes with hooks, sinkers, and bobbers. Fish found in the lake include largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill, redear sunfish, redbreast sunfish, and rainbow trout when in season. Waterfowl may reside in the park during rainy periods as the park can become flooded.

The park is open daily from 6 AM and 10 PM. Reservations can be made in advance through the park’s website or by calling the park office directly. Admission to the park is $3 per day for adults. Children under 12 may enter the park for free. As with any park or public recreation area, always be sure to clean up after yourself and your pet. Your dog should also be current on all vaccinations. Don’t bring unvaccinated puppies, females in heat, or aggressive dogs with you when you visit public spaces.

In Texas state parks, dogs are allowed in most campgrounds and trails but are not allowed inside buildings. You should always maintain physical control of your dog; keep them in a crate or on a leash no longer than six feet at all times. Be aware of posted signs that may indicate areas where dogs are not allowed, and always be respectful of campground and trail rules. With a beautiful environment and plenty of room to roam, Fort Boggy State Park is a great place to bring your family and furry companions, whether you visit for a day or a weekend.
