Fremont Peak State Park

Fremont Peak State Park is located in San Juan Bautista, California. This beloved recreational area is situated in both Monterey and San Benito Counties and is home to the 3,169-foot pinnacle of the Fremont Peak, a mountain in the distinguished Gavilan Range. The terrain in this state park rises to 3,173 feet in elevation at its highest point, affording avid hikers varied land suitable for exploring. 

The Fremont Peak vantage point offers breathtaking views of Monterey Bay, San Benito Valley, Salinas Valley, and Big Sur's Santa Lucia Mountains. Dogs are welcome to join their families in Fremont Peak State Park; however, they must remain on a leash of no greater than six feet at all times. 

At this time, there is not a specific area reserved for dog play, but water access is provided to ensure all dogs remain well-hydrated. Bathrooms are available on the grounds for public use. Fremont Peak State Park is a public facility, and entrance to its grounds is freely offered to all people and their pooches. 

The area is rich in open grass areas and hiking trails. There are many interesting recreational opportunities at this beautiful, naturally landscaped state park. Among the most popular activities are camping, picnicking, and geocaching. Also housed on the grounds is an astronomical observatory where families can enjoy an up-close view of the stars. 

Many wildlife species make this park their home. For those whose hobbies include observing birds and wildlife in their natural habitat, Fremont Peak State Park will not disappoint. Fremont Peak State Park carefully observes all California state law. To this end, all canine visitors to the premises must be up to date on immunizations.
