Greer Dog Park

Greer park hosts a lot of attractions for the people of Palo Alto, not least of which is a fenced off-leash dog run. This park also hosts plenty of picnic areas, shade structures, and attractions like a skateboard park and playground. The park itself spans 22-acres which house a variety of recreational activities. This makes for a great place to bring the whole family, including your four-legged friend.

The dog run itself is pretty small. Roughly 10 ft x 50 ft. There are also very few amenities available for your canine, including no watering hole. This means you would have to bring your dog bowl and get water from the restrooms nearby on your way in.

While inside, your dog no longer has to remain on the leash, and space is small enough they will not run outside of a range of your voice control. That being said, if you are trying to get out and play some games with your dog, this space is not the best for them to get some exercise in. Frisbee or fetch is just not really possible within the confines of the area.

Outside of that area, leashes are required and so you would not be able to play those games in the adjacent park. Dogs, even on a leash, are not allowed on the sports fields and some of the free spaces that are provided.

This all being said, it is a nice place, with plenty of shade and vegetation, to take your canine if you are headed here with family to enjoy some sports or time out at the park. As a specific place to take your canine for no other reason than getting out and having a good time with them, there are other options available around the city that would provide more leg room and space to get some exercise.
