Hardy Dog Park

Traveling or live near Oakland, California? If so, you and your dog Dexter will want to check out the Hardy Dog Park. It’s one of the most unique dog parks around because it’s underneath the highway and has a concrete floor. Because of this, it’s an ideal play spot for Dexter when it rains.

But be aware that after very heavy rainfall, sometimes flooding occurs, but volunteers are working on remedying this issue. Volunteers also continually raise money to improve the park and listen to visitor's feedback. As a dog owner, you could even take part in suggesting improvements to this eclectic park under the freeway.

This dog park is located in a peaceful residential neighborhood and does not only protect you and your pooch from the sun and rain, but it also has a playground for the kiddos nearby, a basketball court, and a small pond to explore.

Dexter will love the shade, and he will want to play fetch here because those tennis balls bounce high off of the hard floor. If you forget your ball at home, no worries, there are some available at the park. Dexter will also enjoy digging in the small dirt area; you just have to make sure to fill in his divots before you leave.

Also, check out the other posted rules before entering. You need to control Dexter with your voice, not use a spiked or pinch collar, leave any dogs in heat or puppies younger than four months old at home, and carry plastic bags to clean up after your pooch.

Are you nervous because Dexter has a loud bark? No problem, because of this secluded location, he won't annoy any residents. But according to the rules, you should monitor him for excessive barking. Who cares if it’s raining? You and Dexter can still go outside at the Hardy Dog Park and get some exercise - in spite of the nasty weather. Enjoy!
