Harker Heights Dog Park (at Purser Family Park)

Harker Heights Dog Park is a public dog park located at Purser Family Park in. In addition to the dog park, the 35-acre recreational park features a playground, a frisbee disc golf course, public restrooms, paved walking and running trails, pavilions, sheltered picnic areas, and a spacious parking lot. The dog park is located in a quiet and relaxing neighborhood. 

It has a simple yet well-designed layout made up of two separate areas for dogs to enjoy without a leash. There is a small dog area for those under 30 pounds and a large dog run for those above. Both are spacious enough to give dogs enough room to roam and stretch their legs. 

Both areas are also well-shaded thanks to the numerous mature trees that grow throughout the two sections and are equipped with fire hydrants and agility obstacles for dogs to train on. The Harker Heights Dog Park at Purser Family Park’s surface is grassy but rarely gets muddy due to the working irrigation. There are two doggie water fountains at the dog park. 

However, they sometimes get clogged so make sure to bring your own water and bowl just in case if you visit. The dog park is equipped with numerous benches, including a few that are covered from rain and sun, in the off-leash areas so finding seating is never a problem. Free waste bag dispensers are available throughout the dog park, so make sure to clean up after your pooch and use the designated waste receptacles. 

The only downside to the Harker Heights Dog Park at Purser Family Park is that the fence is quite short and some dogs might be able to jump over it. If your canine companion needs additional exercise, consider going on a leash walk on one of the mile-long trails that loop around the park or passes by a creek and enjoy the scenery as your pooch explores and sniffs the trail.
