Hart Park is a furrific place for spending a beautiful day with your pup. Originally called the Orange City Park, this 42-acre green space offers parkgoers a host of amenities, including a bandshell, an outdoor pool, and various athletic fields and courts.
Like all Orange parks, Hart Park welcomes four-legged visitors as long as they are leashed and accompanied at all times. Enjoy a leisurely stroll with your canine companion under the shade of mature trees—the park's paved pathways and acres of open space never fail to attract people walking their dogs, so Fido might make a couple of new friends while you're there. If you and your pooch are up for a longer walk, hit the Santiago Creek Bike Trail, which stretches from Hart Park to Cannon Street. This 6-mile, paved trail follows the Santiago Creek, providing pawsome views of the water's native vegetation and natural habitat. Whether you stay within the park or venture beyond its boundaries, the same rules apply: always keep your doggo on a 6-foot leash and clean up after them. Be sure to have bags on hand, as well as water.
Several benches and picnic tables can be found throughout Hart Park, offering spots for you and your pup to relax, share a packed lunch, and watch the world go by. If you feel like cooking up a tasty meal on the spot, barbecue grills are available as well. During the summer, you and Fido can spread out a blanket on the grass and watch free concerts at the bandshell. Don't forget to bring snacks to enjoy as you treat yourselves to some woofderful music.
Though Hart Park is a pretty pawpular destination, parking is usually ample (and free); you can find the lot in a sunken area known as the Orange Plunge. So come on over to Hart Park for a fun-filled afternoon with your best friend!
