The Hawn State Park covers approximately 5,000 acres of land that is situated in Sainte Genevieve County in Missouri. You can find the park off of Interstate 55, south of Saint Louis. This pawrific spot offers several unique features that will keep you engaged or relaxed, whichever you prefer. For example, the park offers lush stands of hardwoods and pines, as well as substantial amounts of flowers that include Redbud, Dogwood, and Wild Azalea. All this fauna combined with the rest of the surrounding landscape makes this state park one of the most beautiful in the entire state. Some of the other natural attractions that visitors to the park may also love to see include a wide variety of rock types, canyons, sandstone bluffs, and clear sand-bottom streams.
If these attractive features are not enough for you, then you and your pup will surely be attracted to the several recreational activities that the park has to offer. Popular activies here include birdwatching, hiking, stream fishing, camping, and backpacking. Some of the park's amenities include five walk-in campsites, showers, 19 basic campsites, 26 electric campsites, picnic areas, a picnic shelter, hiking and backpacking trails, and a special use area.
Dogs are certainly allowed into Hawn State Park, but some rules regarding dogs apply. For example, dogs are not allowed in certain areas of the park including most park buildings. In areas of the park that dogs can access, dog owners are expected to always use a leash on their tail-wagger. While there is one restroom to get water, it is off the main hiking trails, so bringing your own for your thirsty pup is a good idea. Clean up bags are a must to bring as well.
Take a stroll or camp the weekend away with your adventurous pup in the Hawn State Park!
