Nothing beats driving down the wide, open road with your furry BFF riding shotgun. But even the most adventurous canines need to take a break every now and then! If you and Fido are traveling along I-10 in San Bernardino County, you can count on the Wildwood Rest Area Eastbound to provide a safe and convenient space where you can refresh and recharge!
Located 1 mile west of Calimesa, this rest stop offers various amenities for weary eastward travelers. Pull into one of the many parking spaces and hop out of the car to stretch your legs and use the restrooms. Four-legged visitors may go in the grassy designated pet area, but be sure to pick up after them! Remember to grab a doggie waste bag or two from the car, as mutt mitts are not provided. After your pup is done doing their business, take them for a leashed stroll around the area. Mountain views and shaded spots make this rest stop a pleasant location for a break all year round, but stay alert for rattlesnakes, especially if you're stopping by at night during the summer months!
Feeling hungry? There are no vending machines, but if you have your own food, you and your pooch can dig into a packed lunch at one of the covered picnic tables. If you need to make a call, payphones are available on-site. You'll also find drinking fountains at this rest stop, so don't forget to refill your water bottles before you leave.Â
Need a longer break and pawhaps even some shut-eye? You and Fido are welcome to stay at this rest stop for up to 8 hours in any 24-hour period. After spending some time at the Wildwood Rest Area Eastbound, you and your favorite travel buddy will be ready to hit the road once again!Â
