Dogs love walks. But sometimes your furry friend just needs to enjoy some time off leash, especially after been cooped up all day. Furtunately, South End doggos have access to Joe Wex Dog Recreation Space, a woofderful off leash park made just for them! Located inside Peter’s Park, this is a furrific place to let your pooch run wild!
Joe Wex Recreation Space isn’t the largest of dog parks,
but it has enough space for your pup to get their wiggles out. Large breeds
have about 10,000 square feet to explore, while pups weighing less than 25
pounds have 3,000 square feet of pawperty. The ground is covered in pea gravel,
which makes doggy debris clean up nice and easy. Giant stone slabs are
scattered throughout the park which your pupster can either sniff, mark, or climb on
top of. During the summer, check the rocks and make sure they aren’t too
hot before letting your pup run loose.
Dog parks are a great way to help your fur baby practice
their social skills. They will love rubbing shoulders with their canine peers.
Plus they will get tuckered out with all the wrestling and romping around. By the
time they head home, they will be ready for a nap!
For your convenience, this park has some benches for
relaxing on while your pup is running around. There are also shade trees that
provide some relief from the sun. Water spigots are available, so make sure
your pooch gets plenty to drink. Do your part to keep this beloved park
smelling fresh by picking up whatever your pup puts down, so be sure to bring clean up bags. When your furry friend is
finished playing, clip their leash on and take a spin around Peter’s Park.
There a couple furrific urban art murals that your pooch will love.
No bones about it, your pup will go mutts over Joe Wex
Dog Recreation Space!
