Description
Kodachrome Basin State Park, located amidst rainbow-hued natural rock assimilations in Cannonville, Utah, is a breathtaking space for dogs and their owners to enjoy. Seemingly endless powder blue skies make a visit to this pristine landscape feel like an oasis of tranquility and relaxation. Kodachrome Basin State Park also boasts of a unique attraction called "sand pipes" that are original to this park and the only ones evidenced worldwide. These sand pipes have been formed into unique shapes comprised of sandstone and vary in height from 6 feet to 160 feet.

This dog-friendly state park offers many nature trails for dogs and their owners to explore. Each trail features a picturesque landscape of the pristine property. Guided tours are available upon request and an on-site visitors' center offers maps for travelers wanting to delve deeper into the hidden treasures of this stunning facility. For those wishing to camp during their visit, Kodachrome Basin State Park houses a small store where visitors can purchase any camping-related items they might require during their stay.

Dogs are welcome in the park and on any of the nature trails; however, access to the on-site buildings is strictly prohibited. Owners are required to carry poop bags with them and to promptly pick up and properly dispose of all canine waste materials. While access to the park is fee-based for families, dogs are permitted on the premises at no additional cost. Park officials mandate that all dogs visiting the property remain on a lead no more than six feet in length at all times. It is also required that dogs enjoying the park facilities remain under the direct supervision of their owners.

It is important for visitors to note that there is no cell phone service within the park. Safety precautions must be taken while out exploring. Kodachrome Basin State Park is home to many different species of wildlife, including some poisonous snakes and spiders and large predatory (to small animals) cats. Park officials advise carrying a flashlight during nighttime walks and avoiding blindly walking into an area or placing your hands into something. This would also apply to dog exploration as many wild animals will attack if cornered or feeling threatened.

This geologic treasure is home to 31 campsites available for rent by reservation. In addition to this, there are modern bathrooms with shower facilities and on-site dumping stations for RV use. All camping facilities are equipped with picnic tables, a fire pit, and a barbecue, and firewood and water are plentiful. While there are no specific regulations regarding the use of this park, it is wise for all dogs to be current on their vaccinations. It is also recommended that each dog bear the appropriate required state license tag. For a great time in one of America's most beautiful natural settings, consider a visit to Kodachrome Basis State Park!
