Families looking for a wide variety of activities to choose from will find Kumbrabow State Forest a veritable treasure trove. On-site recreational opportunities include biking, geocaching, camping, fishing, and hunting. For those willing to travel to the surrounding areas, access is available for horseback riding, museums, historical sites, and other fun outdoor day trips.Â
Kumbrabow has six country-style cabins available for reservation from April through December. All cabins are fully furnished with appropriate furniture, linens, and cookware. Fire pits and barbecues are also provided on the premises. For those seeking a more rustic outdoor adventure, Kumbrabow State Forest's Mill Creek Campground is home to 13 picturesque sites suitable for tenting or RV living. This facility offers picnicking areas for day-trippers which include picnic-style seating, access to fresh water and public bathrooms, and fire pits. In addition to this, there is playground equipment on the premises to keep young children occupied while Mom and Dad prepare the meal.Â
Dogs are welcomed at Kumbrabow State Park. There is no fee for dogs enjoying the campsite facilities with their owners; however, park officials require a $50 deposit which is refundable at the time of checkout for owners wishing to bring their dogs into the on-site cabins. In addition to this, there is a $40 charge for the first night's pet accommodations with a $5 fee each subsequent night. All guests camping with pets must leave a credit card number with the management and agree to the park's pet policy.
While pets are allowed in cabins, they are to be crated when not with their owners. It is strictly prohibited to tie a dog outside or to leave food in the outdoors. Park officials mandate that all canine visitors must be accompanied by a veterinarian's certificate as proof of up to date vaccinations. In addition to this, all dogs must be kept on a leash no greater than 10 feet in length.
It is unknown if poop bags are provided on site; however, it is required that all owners pick up and properly dispose of any canine waste materials. It is also advisable that all dogs bear the appropriate required state license tag. For a restful experience in a tranquil setting, consider a visit to Kumbrabow State Forest!
