Laguna Woods Dog Park is a small, off-leash, public dog park in the city of Laguna Woods in California. The park is open all year round. It is possible to park on the street close by, but there is no parking lot.
The Laguna Woods Dog Park is a wide strip of ground bordered on one side with a cement block wall covered with metal fencing. A highway runs along the other side of the dog park, but behind a line of trees and bushes to which extra fencing has been installed for safety measures.
The dog park is in most parts surfaced with astro turf, though in some places this has been cut away in semicircular shapes which have been filled in with gravel. Trees have also been planted at various places throughout the astro turf covering and offer some shade, for pets and people, on sunny days.
While it does resemble a grassy tree-lined avenue, the Laguna Woods Dog Park, isn't particularly ideal for big or very energetic breeds of dogs as it lacks sufficient space for them to have a good run around. The dog park is reasonably clean though it has been noted that the astro turf gives off a bad odour during warm weather. A dog park is only as clean as the pet owners keep it. There are poop bags available at the park and bins for depositing recollected faeces.
The Laguna Woods Dog Park is ideal for small or young dogs and for older dogs who prefer a sedate amble in comfortable surroundings as the park is generally fairly quiet. There is a special zone sectioned off for small dogs. Dogs who demonstrate any type of aggressive behavior are not permitted in the park. The dog park has a water fountain and also plastic tables and chairs for pet owners to rest on.
