Lake of the Ozarks State Park

Is your dog craving some time in the great outdoors? Then it’s time for a trip to Lake of the Ozarks State Park. This ginormous chunk of land spans over 17,000 acres and is situated on the shore of, you guessed it, Lake of the Ozarks. With so much space to check out, this park will keep your furry friend busy for hours.

The Grandglaize Arm of the lake cuts through the middle of the park, creating a unique landscape. The best way to see what this park has to offer is to hit the trails with your furry pal. As you can imagine, there are several hikes to choose from. 

If your doggo is in the mood for something nice and easy, opt for White Oak, Shady Ridge, Coakley Hollow, or Bluestem Knoll Trails.  These are only a mile. At 3.25 miles, Woodland Trail is more of a workout. And since it runs through Patterson Hollow Wild Area, it’s also doggone beautiful. Does your pup like a challenge? Then Honey Run Trail is a perfect fit. It’s actually three loops rolled into one 12.75 mile hike. To cut down on time or energy, hiking the loops separately is also an option.

There are more than enough campsites in the park. Whether you are traveling in an RV or are more of a tent family, you’ll find the pawfect spot. While the campgrounds are open year round, water and showers are only available from April 1 to October 31. At Lake of the Ozarks State Park you’ll also find picnic areas, premier fishing, and a couple marinas with shops. Keep in mind that doggos are not allowed on beaches or in designated swimming areas.  And don’t forget to clean up after your furry friend. Be sure to bring clean-up bags, and water.
