Description

Nestled in land once used by Native American tribes, the scenic and serene Lake Wappapello State Park is a woofderful vacation spot for the entire family, including four-legged members! Let your curious pup tag along as you explore this 1,854-acre site in Williamsville—just make sure they stay on a leash no longer than 10 feet at all times!

Lake Wappapello offers a myriad of outdoor activities, many of which you can enjoy together with your furry best friend. Does your pup love to hike? Well, they're in for a treat! The state park contains nearly 21 miles of moderate trails that will give both of you a good workout—but the puptacular vistas sure are worth it!

To get a furrific view of the lake, hit the 0.7-mile, tree-lined Lake View Trail. For a challenging hike across rugged Ozark terrain, leash up for a 13-mile adventure on the Lake Wappapello Trail. Keep in mind that unlike the other paths in the park, which are hiking-only, the Lake Wappapello Trail is also open to bikers and equestrians. Be sure to observe good petiquette by cleaning up after your pooch! Bring your own doggie waste bags as these are not provided on-site.

Of course, no visit to Lake Wappapello State Park would be complete without exploring the lake itself. Your pooch will surely enjoy taking in the scenery and feeling the breeze in their fur as you glide along on the water. It is unknown if dogs are allowed in rental boats, but there are no fees or motor restrictions to launch your own watercraft from one of the three concrete boat launches in the park.

When it comes to overnight accommodations, Lake Wappapello offers basic, electric, and family campsites. There are also cabins that can be rented, but dog-friendly units are limited, so reservations are recommended! Note that there is a minimal fee per dog, per night if you're opting for a cabin.

For a pawsome getaway in southeast Missouri, bring your doggo and the family to Lake Wappapello State Park!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
