The Lathrop Dog Park is a public dog park located at the River Park South in Lathrop, California. In addition to the dog park, the community park features picnic areas with covered picnic tables and grills, as well as public restrooms.Â
This is a perfect place to spend a day outdoors with the entire family, especially since the picnic area is located right by the dog park. This means that you can barbeque and watch your four-legged family member enjoy the off-leash dog run at the same time!
The Lathrop Dog Park is securely fenced and has a simple, open space layout that consists of two separate sections for dogs to socialize and exercise in without a leash. One area is meant for small dog breeds while the other accommodates the large hounds.Â
The areas are long and narrow-shaped which makes them ideal for dogs who love to run and chase after balls with their canine buddies. The park’s layout and location also make it easy for owners to supervise their pooches without having to follow them around as the four-legged patrons are always visible from the seating areas.
The Lathrop Dog Park's terrain consists of lush grass, and there are a few mature trees growing which provide an adequate amount of shade for dogs to cool off in. There are also water fountains; however, unfortunately, they are located within the double-gated entry area so owners will have to make sure to open the gates for them to hydrate once in a while.Â
This dog park is equipped with dog waste dispensers that are free and conveniently located trash cans, which explains why this dog park is very clean and poop-free - most of the time! Parking is plenty, and the regular patrons are very welcoming. Plus, there are a variety of trails that run throughout the park and alongside a river which makes for a scenic place to walk your dog on a leash.
