Description

Manhattan Beach is a small seaside town in Southern California that hosts a long, lovely beach, shops, restaurants and parks. One of the most popular is Live Oak Park, 9 acres of developed activity areas, including a jogging path and a paved walking path, but best of all a small off-leash dog run.

The Live Oak Park Dog Run is fully fenced with a double entry gate to foil any escape artists. The total number of dogs allowed inside at any one time is 10 - please wait outside the gate with your pup on leash until there's room. The park also asks that if visitors and their pooches are waiting to get in, that you please limit your visit to 15 minutes.

The dog run is shaded by many trees and the surface is paw-comfy wood chips over dirt. The humans are accommodated with benches and waste bags are provided, so there's no excuse for not picking up after your pup. The beach is only a couple of blocks away, and while doggos aren't allowed on the sand, walking with them from the dog run on their leashes to The Strand is fun. The Strand stretches the length of the beach, is paved and passes by several restaurants with outdoor seating where your pup is welcome.

Dogs are also allowed on their leashes on the jogging path within Live Oak Park, so after the cavorting in the dog run, Fido can accompany you for some exercise of your own. Remember: a tired dog is a happy dog! The park and its dog run are open year-round, and although there's no lighting in the run itself, it's adjacent to the tennis courts, which have lights. Parking is available in a parking lot across the street from the park, as well as along the curb adjacent to Valley Road.

This little dog park is not the roomiest nor the most interesting available in Southern California, but it's a furbulous spot for doggo socializing and running around, while you relax under a tree and watch!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
