Description

Lost Maples State Natural Area is widely known for its stunning fall colors. But the park has spectacular sights and plenty to do outside all year-round. Just two hours northwest of San Antonio, Texas, Lost Maples State Natural Area is a spot you do not want to miss out on.

The park has plenty for the whole family to enjoy, from camping and hiking to fishing and enjoying the stunning scenery. There are 30 campsites with water and electricity and a primitive hike-in camping area. The park also has 10 miles of hiking trails, which vary in length and difficulty.

On Sabinal River or Can Creek, guests may fish without a license, since fishing from shore or a pier in Texas state parks does not require one. Lost Maples State Natural Area is open daily. Entrance fees are $6 for adults, but children under 13 may enter without charge.

You may make reservations in advance through the park website or by phone. When the park is full, and no parking is available, the park may close for up to three hours. Those with camping reservations can enter regardless. If you bring your dog with you to Lost Maples State Natural Area, follow all the park rules and guidelines set for the protection of your pet and the local wildlife.

Keep your pet under your physical control at all times, either inside a crate or on a leash no longer than six feet. As with any other Texas state park or public recreation area, clean up after yourself and your pet, and do not forget to bring waste bags. Also, do not bring any dog with prior aggression issues or those that bark excessively.

Make sure you also bring proof of current rabies vaccine for your dog. Pets may not be left unattended, and follow posted signs where dogs may not be permitted. If you are near San Antonio and looking for a beautiful spot to go to enjoy some fresh air and stunning scenery, bring your family or fur friends to the Lost Maples State Natural Area.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
