For pups living in the heart of the city, the Lucas Gardens Dog Park is a puptastic spot to meet new furiends and ditch the leash for a fun romp. Located inside Lucas Park, the dog park can be found on the north side along St. Charles Street.
Though small, the park is fully fenced in and near a lot of pupular businesses and community spaces in this neighborhood. A double-gated entry makes sure everyone stays safe. There's a spigot for water and a bowl on site for thirsty pups, and even a hose and pool to fill up for a splash on hot days. A tunnel to play in near the western end makes things interesting for pooches, while benches and chairs throughout give pup pawrents a place to watch all the action. The terrain is a mix of artificial turf and wood chips, ensuring the area stays soft for canine paws. Without a small dog area, the park is made for all sizes of dogs to mix and mingle.
Lucas Gardens Dog Park is accessible by membership only. A yearly membership costs $55, and runs from January 1st to December 31st. Memberships are available for purchase through the first half of the year. After that, you can get on the wait list for a spot when they open up. You'll also need a current vaccination record for your dog and a license tag. Once a member, you'll get a code for the gate, and a tag for your dog to wear while visiting.
The park requires members to pick up after their dogs, which is easy with the clean-up bags and trash cans provided. Always keep your dog leashed when entering and exiting the dog park, and anywhere outside of it. Keep the leash in hand while your dog runs free.
Keep your dog's tail wagging with a visit to the Lucas Gardens Dog Park!
