Description

The Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site in Central Texas is home to the LBJ Ranch, which is open to self-guided auto tours by permit only. Additionally, the park has plenty to do and lots of space to do it in. With wildlife, multiple outdoor recreation options, and several historical sites, Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site is a spot you can’t miss.

This day-use park has plenty to enjoy outside, including fishing, swimming, walking, enjoying nature, and picnicking, as well as the Sauer-Beckmann Farmstead, which is as it was in 1918. Enjoy a guided tour from an interpreter in period clothing and demonstrating period household chores. The visitor’s center is also home to some memorabilia from President Lyndon B. Johnson.

The Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site is open daily until dark. The park office, buildings, Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm, and the pool all have separate hours or seasons. Refer to the park’s website for specific hours or days. There are no entrance fees to Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site. You may make reservations in advance through the park office by phone, but there are no overnight visits or camping allowed.

If you bring your dog with you to Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site, follow all park rules and guidelines. Always keep your pet under your control, like inside a crate or on a leash no longer than six feet. Just like with any other Texas state park or public recreation area, make sure to clean up after yourself and your pet. Don’t forget to bring waste bags and plenty of water.

Dogs with prior aggression issues or those that bark excessively are not welcome at the park. Carry proof of current rabies vaccine with you. Pets cannot be left unattended, and always follow posted signs where dogs may not be permitted. If you’re an American history buff or you’re just looking for a place to stretch your legs near San Antonio, bring your family or fur buddy to Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
