Next time your doggo needs some exercise, head over to Mad River Beach County Park. Sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the Mad River, this beautiful park draws out all the local adventure seekers. With beach and river access, this place has something for everyone, whether you have two legs or four.
If your pal is in the mood for some sandy fun, begin your
adventure at the beach side of the park. Your furry BFF will be pleased to know
they can romp around off leash on the wave slope. So unclip their lead and let
them splash around in the waves! Take a walk along the shoreline and let your
pooch enjoy the salty sea water. Just be sure to put them back on leash when
you walk on dry sand. This is a pupular spot for beachcombing, so put your pup
to work and see if they can unearth some pawsome treasure.
When your doggo is ready to check out the river, make
your way over to the other side of the park. Be sure to stop at the pupperific
sand dunes on the way. The park has a boat launch which is put to use by
kayakers, canoers, paddle boarders, and boaters. Find a spot with mild current
and let your pup frolic in the water. There’s also a trail that runs down the
middle of the park that’s worth checking out. It’s not uncommon to see
equestrians, so keep your pup close and make sure they mind their manners when
passing horses.
Restrooms are available at the park. Bring plenty of
drinking water; all that swimming and exploring will tucker out your pup. Don’t
forget to also pack some clean up bags. This is a pawsome place for a beach
bonfire, so pack some marshmallows and hot dogs. This park will make your pup
one happy hound!
