Marcus Garvey Dog Park is a historical neighborhood off-leash area you can bring your dog to every day. All dogs that visit the park must have their vaccinations up-to-date, including rabies vaccination and license. You need to keep your dog on a leash until you reach the designated dog park area. Once you enter the zone, you can remove the leash and allow your dog to run around in the fenced in area.
The park is large enough to play a good game of fetch with your dog. Bring along a ball or toy to play with as well as bottled water to keep your dog hydrated. Dogs that do not like to share water or toys should be a far distance away from other dogs to prevent fighting.
The Marcus Garvey Dog Park is clean, and pet parents are encouraged to pick up their dog’s mess immediately. Always carry poop bags with you to assure you can clean up after your dog. There are trash cans located throughout the park that makes it convenient to throw away the mess.
Large and small dogs play in the same area of the park. Dogs that are aggressive towards small dogs need to be observed at all times. Smaller dogs that are afraid of large dogs or that like to follow them around and play should also be watched carefully to avoid injury. Dogs that are recovering from an injury or illness should be kept home until they are fully healed.
There are benches in the dog park for pet parents to sit and relax. Keep an eye on your dog at all times and remove him immediately if there are aggressive dogs in the park or if your dog is aggressive towards others. Overall, this park is clean, spacious, and safe. It allows your dog to have the freedom to run around off-leash while he plays and socializes with other dogs.
