Description

The McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park is positioned in Burney, California. It can be accessed by car via the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway. The area surrounding is mountainous with the Cascade Range and Modoc Plateau natural region being within the park.

Aside from mountains, there are about five miles of streamside and lake shoreline that includes Lake Britton. The park itself is about 910 acres. The most common reason people visit this state park is that of the Burney Falls. It’s a 129-foot waterfall which is considered one of the most beautiful in California.

To see the falls, there are about five miles of hiking trails for you to choose. Each trail winds through the park’s forests. Take your pup on one of the paths to visit the falls and make sure he is leashed at all times. Once you’re at the falls, take a few photo ops before jumping in the water to cool off.

Fido is also welcome to hop in for a dip. Within the park, there’s also tons more of outdoor activities to do like canoeing, grilling, kayaking, and swimming. There’s even a store at the McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park in case you should need equipment or snacks.

The McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park is also home to a recently renovated, 121 site campground. There are no utilities available here however the bathrooms are clean and new. If you and the pups prefer something a little homier, there are 24 cabins available for rent with bunks, a porch, and propane heat. These are great for large groups and multiple dogs.

While visiting this state park, consider renting a boat from the marina to take for a spin on the lake. Boating is a fun activity for dogs to stick their heads out and feel the breeze as you drive through the water. Overall, the McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park is exciting and beautiful. It’s famous for locals and an even better tourism destination.
