The space available at this park is really what sets it all apart. There is a good amount of playing area here so games like fetch would be pretty easy to play throughout this park. There is plenty of seating for the human counterparts in the form of benches place strategically throughout the dog park. The total space here comes out to about eight acres.
Shade is quite limited at this park. There are a few trees that line the park but there are not any inside the fenced dog area. The trees that line the park and sit just on the outside of the fence are not tall enough nor do they have a large enough canopy of leaves to produce any real shade to the patrons of this park. For the most part, you are subjected to the suns rays at this dog park.
The grounds here at the Merced Dog Park are grass with a few areas that devolveĀ into dirt after consistent heavy use, such as at the entrance. There is a walking path here as well. This path is not too long, but a good way to wear out an energetic canine. Your canine is required to remain on leash on this walking path.
The Merced Dog Park is fenced with a double-gated entrance, which stops even the biggest runners from escaping. Poop bags and garbage cans are available here, and the garbage cans are emptied regularly. The grounds stay pretty well maintained, the grass stays cut at a reasonable length, and the restrooms are cleaned regularly.
