Inside the fenced section of this park, the turf is all grass. This means your canine will likely leave about as clean as they came. The grounds here stay pretty well maintained and the garbage is taken out regularly. Poop bags are available at the entrance to the fenced section for those that neglected to bring one themselves.
There is a circular path that you can walk with your canine on if they need some additional exercise. This does require your canine to be on a leash. Also, this is a co-mingled dog park, which means there is no separate section for small dogs. This can put them at a much higher risk if there are any aggressive larger canines or canines that have not been socialized with small dogs in the past.
Water is available at this park in the form of a spout at the entrance. Be sure to bring your dog bowl. Several trees in the area provide a good amount of shade in some specific areas. There are no shelters to provide additional shade, and if the park is busy, you may find yourself subjected to the suns rays.
There is a pretty decent amount of space for your canine to run and play. It has enough space to play games like fetch or frisbee, provided you limit your throws. The Montiel Park Dog Park does not have permanent restrooms installed, but they do have portable ones on-site. This makes for a great dog park for the locals of the area.
