Mosswood Dog Park

Mosswood Dog Park is located in Oakland, California. This scenic dog playground earns high marks from visitors for its natural beauty and urban "feel." Boasting of two play spaces which are fully fenced, they are both well-suited to off-leash play. One of the two enclosures is reserved specifically for use by small or elderly dogs.

Though the dog runs are designated off-leash zones, it is required that all dogs remain on a lead when traveling to and from the enclosures as well as in all other areas of the park. Additionally, owners are asked to carry a leash with them at all times in case of an emergency situation. 

This beloved doggy play haven was built on the site of a former garbage dump, which was purchased and redesigned into an ideal space where dogs could enjoy proper socialization opportunities and appropriate play time. The runs themselves are lined with dirt and wood pellets. 

There is no grass, so during inclement weather spells, dogs may become dirty from their play time in the enclosures. It is recommended that owners bring a towel with them to remove excess dirt prior to loading Fido back into their vehicles to return home. 

Access to this public play space is free of charge. Bathrooms are not available on-site, and it is not known if a potable water source is provided to address Fido's hydration needs. For this reason, owners are encouraged to carry a bottle of water and a suitable drinking vessel with them. Additionally, it is unknown if complimentary poop bags are provided on the premises; however, California state law mandates that all owners carry bags for the pickup and proper disposal of all canine waste.

Nearby Mosswood Park offers many fun recreational activities for Fido and his family to enjoy. Visitors can choose from baseball, soccer, or tennis, or even just a little play time at the children's playground. There is also a community center and public garden on the property.

Park officials prohibit dogs with spike or pinch collars from entering the facility. Additionally, unneutered males are not permitted at this dog play space. Food, alcohol, and smoking are also strictly forbidden. Though no additional rules govern the use of this dog play area, it is highly recommended that all dogs be current on vaccinations and bear the appropriate required state license tag.
