Mountain Creek Lake is a park surrounding a reservoir just a few miles southwest of downtown Dallas. The park is about 117 acres of rolling, wooded terrain with gorgeous views of the water. It provides a great escape from city life for locals, visitors and their dogs too. If you’re fortunate enough to live in close proximity to this park, it’s a must to add to your walking route with Fido!
For those who don’t live within walking distance of Mountain Creek Lake, there is a free parking lot on Cardiff Street, and another at the entrance on Hardy Road. The parking lot on Cardiff Street is close to the playground, whereas the parking lot on Hardy road is close to the large picnic pavilion.
The Mountain Creek Lake Park Pavilion is one of the main attractions of this park. The large shelter is not only nice to look at in itself, but offers great views of the water. It features picnic tables and grills, and is perfect for a family gathering, including the family dog of course! The pavilion is available to rent, for rental information visit the official park website.
Probably your dog’s favorite part of this park will be the pathways. These paved and natural pathways wind through expansive grassy areas, and over gentle hills. Many of the trails are exposed, so be sure to wear sunscreen and bring drinking water for you and your doggo. There are also shade trees throughout the grassy areas, under which you can read about or take a nap with your best pal.
Some other features of this family-friendly park include restrooms, a basketball court and a playground for the kiddos. Puppers are welcome to join their humans in this park, as long as they stay leashed, under control, and picked up after. Be sure to bring some baggies!
Mountain Creek Lake is a pawrific park to unwind and spend some quality time outdoors with your doggo.
