Ocean View Park Off Leash Dog Area

As the name suggests, the Ocean View Park hosts spectacular views of Monterey Bay and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Dogs are welcome here, both on a leash and off leash, in the parks designated off-leash play area. Residents and locals love to take their families here for playtime, and with views that cannot be beaten, you are sure to love every minute that you spend here. 

Colorful slides attract neighborhood children to Ocean View Park, and there is an enclosed area where dogs can roam off-leash under owner supervision. The area is clearly marked, and posted signs list the rules, including picking up after your dog and keeping them under voice control at all times. The terrain in the dog enclosure is primarily grass, while the rest of the area is a combination of wood chips and springy rubber surfaces upon all children’s areas. 

Picnic tables are situated all along the park’s walkways, many of them offering shade and respite from the California Sun. Public restrooms and picnic areas make this the perfect place to come for sunset picnics or family barbeques!  The City of Santa Cruz owns and operates the Ocean View Park, and since the park is located within a residential neighborhood, many of the locals have taken responsibility for maintaining the park, as well. 

Poop bags are provided at the park to help you do your part in enjoying it responsibly. Some people report that dogs are often off-leash outside of the designated areas, but it is always wise to stick to the rules and help keep the park a safe, clean place for dog lovers and families to enjoy together.
