The Pearsall Dog Park is a large fenced dog park located just south of Lackland Airforce Base. Water fountains, picnic tables, and agility equipment are available at this dog park. Red and black benches are placed along the fence line and near the paved path through the middle of the dog park. There are few trees inside the fenced area; there is very little shade produced for the patrons of the park when the sun is directly overhead.
When the sun is lower in the sky, the many trees along the outside of the dog park produce a lot of shade for those inside the Pearsall Dog Park. There is a lot of space at this park, so even the most energetic canines will be able to wear themselves out here. Games like fetch or frisbee are possible here, and your canine can get up some speed and stretch their legs.
Pearsall Park in its entirety makes up roughly 500 acres, and the dog park is about one and a half of those. The remaining acres have attractions for everyone. The park houses sports fields, a skate park, playgrounds, space to picnic and grill, and tons of space for events. During the summer months this park hosts events and festivals organized by the city and local businesses.
These events range from music festivals to fundraising runs. The walking and running trail winds through the Pearsall Dog Park. Art installations are placed throughout on either side of the trail, most large sculptures. The Pearsall Dog Park is wonderfully aesthetic and houses all the facilities to be a very functional city park.
The view from the Pearsall Dog Park in San Antonio, Texas; however, is underwhelming. Large electrical installations block much of your view and wires travel overhead. On the other side of the park, there are large trees that form a wall and prevent much of your view in that direction. The Pearsall Dog Park has some lighting and stays open from 5 AM to 11 PM each day.
