This fenced dog park was renovated by PetCo in 2011 and is run by the San Diego Humane Society. The park was formerly known as San Diego Humane Society and SPCA Dog Park. The park was redesigned to provide a healthy, fun, and educational location where people, as well as their pet dogs, can spend quality time together. The funds for the park facelift came from the PetCo Foundation.
Some of the features added to the park were drinking fountains, so dogs don’t get thirsty, separate yards for small and large dogs, both sections fitted with double gates, so you need not fear your dog getting lost; gazebo areas; and portable restrooms so people need not worry about where to go when they need to use the toilet badly.Â
However, a lot of park goers say that it would have been a lot better if there was a standard bathroom instead of the large Porta Potty. There are numerous informative and educational signs throughout the park. Suffice it to say that the renovation gave the park the much-needed upgrade to be at par with other parks in the area.Â
There is lots of space for dogs to stretch, play, run around and get adequate exercise while they run up and down the hill. There are donated chairs and benches which give dog owners the opportunity to engage in conversation and give the park a backyard patio feel, something that can be hardly said of other parks.Â
It is a convenient place where you can take your dogs after work or before heading to work. Generally, people are friendly and are mindful of their dogs. They pick up after their dogs and help keep the park clean. They also donate toys for the dogs, a much-needed addition to a great place.Â
