The Red Hill Dog Park, located within San Anselmo's Red Hill Community Park, has a lot to recommend it. It's medium-sized, and features many amenities that make visiting a happier experience for both the pooches and their humans. With chaparral-covered hills as a backdrop, this is a pleasant place where the rest of the family can take advantage of the community park's activities while you watch your pup meet new dogs and frolic with them. Tennis balls are replenished by the volunteers who maintain the park, and dog parents are welcome to bring some of their fur-baby's toys.
From a doggy-hygiene standpoint, Red Hill is great, providing waste bags and scoops, plenty of waste containers, and a shower where Fido can get rinsed off before the ride home, although the wood chips do a good job of preventing mud. The shower is handy for washing the bottoms of your shoes, too, should you step in something icky. Two doggie fountains are available with raised platforms for the bowls, along with a human water fountain. Plenty of chairs, at least one bench and a large wooden shelter ensure the doggos' people will be comfortable, and shade trees provide additional shelter from the sun.Â
While the park doesn't have a permanent small dog area, it does provide for an hour every day from 3:00 to 4:00 for these itty-bitties to romp without fear of being run over by a Great Dane. A temporary small dog run is being planned, so there's hope, little Yorkie!
When your pup has had enough running, fetching, chasing and rolling, consider heading over to one of the several dog-friendly restaurants nearby for a snack or meal. Try L'Appart Resto's Italian cuisine, or roll into Peet's Coffee and Tea for a coffee and a sandwich. With puptastic amenities and a wooferdful locale, the Red Hill Dog Park is sure to be a favorite on your pup's list!
