The Ruff Range Dog Park is a public dog park located at the B.F. Phillips Community Park in Frisco, Texas. In addition to the dog park, the 117-acre ranch-themed community park features baseball, softball, and football fields, as well as a soccer field.Â
It is also home to several playgrounds and picnic areas, public restrooms, and various trails for walking, hiking, and biking. The two-and-a-half-acre dog park can be found on the south-east side of the community park, by the 18-hole disc golf course.Â
This park has a great layout that consists of three separate areas for dogs to roam and explore without a leash. There is a small dog section on the north side for breeds under 25 pounds and a large dog run below it for those over 25 pounds.Â
The large dog area is approximately twice the size of the small dog area. However, both provide more than enough room for dogs to stretch their legs and get their daily dose of off-leash exercise. The third area is meant for large dogs, and it is used in rotation to enable grass to regenerate and prevent overuse.Â
All of the areas include plenty of grassy open space for games of fetch, some ungroomed and wooded areas for canine exploration and sniffing and overall varied terrain. There are some hills and tons of trees growing throughout the dog park which provide the right amount of shade.
Playtime can get muddy due to the park's surface so make sure to bring a towel and take advantage of the canine washing area. The Ruff Range Dog Park is equipped with pavilions, picnic tables and benches for owners to relax on while they watch their canines enjoy the vast space and lush greenery.Â
The regulars are very helpful and welcoming, and owners do a great job at helping keep this park clean and well maintained. The Ruff Range Dog Park has its own parking lot too, located directly by the off-leash area for your convenience.
