Description

Saddleback Butte State Park is in Lancaster, California. This beautiful recreational area and camping facility rises to an elevation of 3,651 feet at its highest point, meaning the land offers plentiful challenging hiking opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. Among the notable scenery at Saddleback Butte State Park is the granite mountaintop surface of Mount St. Helens which towers above the breathtaking Antelope Valley.

Situated within the Mojave Desert in the western portion of the area, this park boasts of a hot, arid climate, stunning wildflowers (in season), and wooded areas comprised of Joshua Trees. There are also many steep hiking trails which travel over rough and varied terrain. It is important to note that though dogs are permitted to join their families on the premises, they are not allowed access to any of the trails.

At this time, there is not a designated play area for dogs to enjoy, and water access is not provided. As is the case with most state parks, dogs enjoying the property with their owners must remain on a lead of no greater than six feet in length at all times. Since there are no on-site amenities provided for canine use, owners should bring bottled water, a dog dish, and poop bags with them.

All pet waste cleanup and disposal is the responsibility of each owner. Saddleback Butte State Park is a private recreational space and campground. There is a $6 fee to enter the property. Campsites are available by reservation only and are fee-based. Bathrooms are housed on the premises, and visitors make note that they are remarkably clean.

There are many attractions to enjoy at Saddleback Butte State Park, but one of the most notable activities is the viewing of wildlife in its natural habitat. The area is home to a number of desert species including some deadly rattlesnakes. There is an on-premise equestrian trail as well as a nature center. It's important to note that both bikes and smoking are forbidden on any of the trail areas.

A permit is needed for any photography or filmmaking on the grounds, regardless of whether the work is professional or amateur. Saddleback Butte State Park supports and enforces all state legislation. With this in mind, all dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and in possession of a city dog license. For a great time at a beautiful park, plan a trip to Saddleback Butte State Park!
