The Seven Mile Slough at Brannan Island State Recreation Area is located in Rio Vista, CA. It is almost surrounded by water facing the Sacramento River on one side and Threemile Slough on the other. Parkgoers can access the recreation area by driving on West Brannan Island Road or CA-160.Â
The park received its state recreation area status to preserve the various waterways in the Sacramento-Joaquin River Delta. The Seven Mile Slough at Brannan Island State Recreation Area is home to tons of wildlife habitats most of which being aquatic. It’s popular with fishers because within the river live striped bass, sturgeon, catfish, bluegill, perch, and bullhead.Â

The Seven Mile Slough at Brannan Island State Recreation Area includes a campsite for larger tents and campers if you prefer to stay overnight. There is a walking path that snakes around the park which isn’t quite the caliber of a hiking trail but is enjoyable for dogs who prefer to walk along flatter ground.Â
The climate of the Seven Mile Slough at Brannan Island State Recreation Area is consistent with Northern California weather. The coldest it gets ranges between 45 and 55 degrees with the highest getting to around 100 degrees. Luckily the nearby water provides enough wind to cool down you and your pup while walking along the trail.Â
