Southdown Dog Park - Pearland

Conveniently located off 288 and extension of Southdown Park, this half-acre fenced dog park has different areas for small dogs and puppies under 25 pounds so they do not get run over by larger pooches. Located by the Westside Event Center within Southdown Park, this off-leash area offers enough space for dogs to enjoy themselves.

Southdown Dog Park is Pearland’s first official dog park and although it is quite small and one of the older parks in the area, it is pretty well laid out. There are waste stations all throughout the park but do make sure to bring your own waste bags as there is none provided and you do need to pick up after your dog. There is no excuse not to.

There is a nice little hill where people can sit together, chat, catch up with each other, and enjoy a few snacks while supervising their dogs. Do remember to bring your own camping chairs to sit on because the number of benches in the park is not enough for the number of pet parents who usually visit. The park does not have dog fountains or water features, so it is a must to bring your own water supply, so you and your four-legged friend are well-hydrated.

One of the best features of the park that people like so much are the different agility equipment for dogs where your canine can run around and exercise himself to his heart’s delight. There are also restrooms nearby so you need not worry if you want to use the toilet. There is little shade in the park, so you might want to bring your sunglasses with you for protection.

In summary, the Southdown Dog Park is well-equipped although it is not as large as some others. It is a great place to bring your dog to get some exercise and socialize with other dogs.
