Southwest City Dog Park (at Willmore Park)

Near the southwest border of St. Louis, pups can find a pawtastic place to meet new furry playmates and have a blast at the Southwest City Dog Park. Located inside Willmore Park, this pooch hot spot is sure to bring a wag to your dog's tail.

This park has everything! The Main play area is where most of the action happens where dogs can mix and mingle. There's metal tables and benches for the owners, and a fully fenced in space for dogs to safely play off-leash. Behind it, there's another section with an agility course for the sporty pups out there! In the winter time, a shelter is built for the humans to keep warm, while doggos get a furbulous straw maze to play in that offers surprises each year, such as hiding spots or ramps. In the summer, pups can enjoy a cool dip in one of 3 pools set up for the season.

There's also an Alternate area that is also fenced-in, and caters to small dogs, shy and timid dogs, pups with special needs, puppies or older dogs, or dogs with humans who have special needs. Basically, anyone who doesn't want to run with the robust crowd in the Main section can enjoy a softer play style here. This section also features a pool in the summer, and offers a patio with an umbrella table for the humans. The Alternate area hosts several festivities and events throughout the year for dogs and their humans, so keep an eye out.

With 2 to 5 watering stations available at various times throughout the year, dogs can always stay hydrated. Clean-up bags are provided by the park and brought by members, so be sure to bring some to add to the supply. The terrain is grass when the season starts, but can turn to dirt after a couple months of being trampled. Luckily, there's a dog washing station with a two-level table to clean off any mud, or whatever your dog got into, before you head home. 

SW Dog Park is a members-only park, with membership fees going directly into maintenance and upgrades. City residents can get a season membership for $52, and can add on an additional dog in the household for another $10. Non-residents can also become members for $67, and can add dogs for $10 each. To become members, dogs also need to be over 4 months old, and have proof of current vaccinations.
