Description

St. Joe State Park is a fantastic place to visit with your dog. The park has lots of activities to enjoy such as camping, backpacking, hiking, boating, biking, canoeing, swimming, kayaking, fishing, metal detecting, historical tours, cave tours, ATV riding, playgrounds, horseback riding, rock climbing, and picnicking.

Pet parents will be happy to learn they can enjoy outdoor adventures with their dog at the St. Joe State Park. However, you need to follow the rules and guidelines set in place for pet parents to follow. Rules include vaccinating your dogs for rabies, keeping your dog leashed, and cleaning up your dog’s waste.

You need to bring along supplies for your dogs such as plastic doggie poop bags, food, water, bowls, and a first aid kit for emergencies. You also need to bring along a leash that measures 10 feet or less. Owners need to remove their dog from any aggressive situation and always keep their dogs with them at all times during your visit.

Dogs are not allowed in historic buildings. However, they are welcome in campsites. There is dog-friendly lodging available, but you need to reserve the accommodations in advance. The wildlife surrounds the area and allows you to see them in their natural environment during your visit to St. Joe State Park.

Some dog breeds are genetically programmed to chase and catch specific wildlife animals. Pet parents are required to prevent their dog from chasing, catching, injuring or killing wildlife at the St. Joe State Park. Dogs that exhibit this behavior need to be removed from the situation as quickly as possible.

Distracting your dog by walking in another direction will quickly solve the situation. Overall, St. Joe State Park is a beautiful state park that allows you to bring your dog to the campsite areas. Check with the park office for current rules regarding dogs before your visit. You and your dog will enjoy your stay at this fantastic state park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
