Thompson Dog Park

The Thompson Dog Park in Amarillo, Texas is marked by its grand open spaces and large grassy fields. This park is fenced, and that fence also divides the dog park into a couple of different sections, one for small dogs under 25 lbs and another large dog or all size section. 

When the park remains sunny and beautiful, there are few better places you could go and bring your four-legged friend. The grass stays very green, and there is enough space to play long range games like fetch and Frisbee, even throwing into the pond for those who have the more courageous canines.

The Thompson Dog Park also has a small lake/pond available for your canine to play in, which is an exceptional and unusual amenity for a dog park. If you don’t mind the smell of a wet dog after, the park allows for your canine to splash along the coast or outright swim in the pond. 

The grounds stay relatively clean, and you can tell they are actively and well maintained. The greater area of the park is most commonly used for a Frisbee golf course, as such, it is a pretty view with lots of open space. The park has your standard amenities available such as dog bags and trash bins for waste disposal, and it also has drinking water available, but you will need to bring your dog bowl.

Thompson Dog Park has a running tunnel and some other agility equipment for your canine to use. This park does require a license by the city to permit use. This comes with an annual fee, and they need to verify your canines vaccinations records before issuance.
