The University City Dog Park located near Pool Heman Park is a designated area dedicated to allowing dogs to run off-leash. The park has green grass and trees that provide shade. Pet parents are welcome to relax on the benches located throughout the park as they watch their dog play, run and socialize with other dogs.
This extraordinary dog park is great during the summer. It has a sprinkler and kiddie pool area for the dogs to splash around and have fun. There is also a giant bucket that is used as a community drinking bowl. However, you can bring along a bowl for your dogs if you do not want them to share with others.
A dog park tag is required for all dogs that visit this park. Dog owners can get a park tag for their dog at City Hall. The dog park does not have any further fees other than the park tag. There is a dedicated area for small and large dogs.
All dogs are welcome to visit the park. However, the Pitbull dog breed is not allowed in the park. Aggressive dogs need to be removed from the dog park immediately for safety reasons. Keeping the park clean is a mandatory rule. Cleaning up after your dog is required.
It is best to bring doggie poop bags along for every visit. Also, dogs need to have their vaccination and license tags displayed on their collar when visiting the park. This dog park is an excellent place to play a game of fetch with your dog.
There is plenty of room, and on busy days other dogs like to play along. Dogs that are territorial over their toys might need to play in an area away from the other dogs. Overall, this is an excellent dog park; especially during the summer. Your dog will have fun at this park and you will too.
