Villa Chanticleer Dog Park

The Villa Chanticleer Dog Park is a dog park on the grounds of the Villa Chanticleer which is three miles outside of Healdsburg in California. Villa Chanticleer is a popular place for holding events like weddings, conferences and trade shows. But what attracts pooches to the Villa Chanticleer estate is the one and a half acre off-leash dog park. There is a parking lot right by the dog park. 

This dog park in Healdsburg is part of the seventeen acres of forested land around the villa which has been reconditioned by a voluntary organization. They created two fenced enclosures so dogs of all sizes could be exercised safely off-leash in a woodland setting. The two runs, one of which is reserved specifically for those canines who are smaller in stature, are surrounded by trees and surfaced with a generous layer of wood chippings. 

For owners, there are temporary canvas-roofed shelters and a few plastic chairs. There is no membership required to use this dog park in Healdsburg, but donations from any generous pet parent are gratefully received and put towards maintenance and improvements. To be eligible to use the off-leash areas pups must be older than four months because all dogs need to have their Sonoma County license before using the facility. 

They also need to have completed their rabies and other vaccinations. Young pups are just too susceptible to infections if they go to a dog park too soon, so keep them safe and wait until they're the right age and well protected. Apart from vaccinating, one sure way of stopping the spread of bacterial infections and parasites between dogs is picking up all their poop. 

This applies to all pet owners and no pet parent should think they're above the task of poop scooping. It's a vital duty which needs to be carried out to keep the beautiful off-leash areas in tip-top condition for all dogs to have fun in. Without dog parks, there'd be no off-leash time, and no-one wants that to happen.
